Cara Marie Egbert, LMT, ZBC, MLDC

Somatic Practitioner

I am a Somatic Practitioner who provides whole system support by working with the muscles, bones, fluids, organs and energy of the body. I have been enjoying my work in this field since 2010 and I am a NYS and NJ Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Zero Balancing Practitioner and Certified Manual Lymphatic Drainage Practitioner. The most prominent tools in my Massage practice are Therapeutic Deep Tissue/Sports, Swedish, Orthopedic, Prenatal, Trigger Point, Neuromuscular Re-Patterning, Myofascial Release and PNF Stretching. My work as an energy healer is informed by Zero Balancing, Process Acupressure, Advanced Cranial Therapy, and Energy Kinesiology. Zero Balancing and Central Axis Integration are my tools for gentle skeletal alignment and to serve the organs and fluids of the body I draw upon Manual Lymphatic Drainage techniques from Vodder, BMC influences and Visceral Manipulation.

After a more than a decade as a professional dancer and researcher of somatic movement studies Cara is a resource for those seeking to empower their own self care routines in between bodywork sessions.

My goal is to help you move towards your goal. I aim to bring clarity and ease to your process through the use of skilled, conscious touch and presence.

I am in tune with the varying needs for both restorative and transformative sessions. I am happy to listen to and accommodate both the deep and surface needs of the person in front of me. We are all carrying different parts of ourselves with different needs everyday. We tend to celebrate some parts of our selves and judge or condemn other parts of us. It’s only natural. In session, I want to support all of your different parts, without judgment or comparison. In this way, I hold your full self in the highest personal regard. This is the foundation on which you will rest, as I go to work through all your body systems and tissues, releasing, tonifying and aligning them with the goals and intentions you’ve set for yourself.

The body holds outdated behavioral and thought patterns. Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen says it best, “The mind is like the wind and the body is like the sand. If you want to see how the wind is blowing, look at the sand.”

I know what its like to be a client in need of both transformative and restorative sessions. This gives me special insight into what my clients are going through when recovering from a physical injury or post-traumatic stress. With this insight, I am all about respecting, trusting and empowering my client’s personal process. I ride the edge between conscious and unconscious, choosing carefully when to bring certain useful observations to someone's attention and when to let go of conscious processing to hold silent space for the unconscious healing processes to work.
